At the beginning there was a Mercedes car dealer in Waiblingen. The car dealer Lorinser Ltd. & Co has been distributing Mercedes cars of every kind since 1935, takes care of maintenance, servicing and sales of passenger cars and lorries with the compulsory star. It was not yet to be thought about a tuning company, when the firm concluded a representative contract with the Mercedes-Benz factory. However, that changed all of a sudden when the first Lorinser-customers were overcome by desire for more individuality. Individual customers requested another design than the one which wandered into the sale halls of the traders from the Mercedes assembly lines.

The Tuning department of Lorinser therefore already from beginning was accompanied by an exclusive aura. But also the owners of smaller Mercedes got to their costs at Manfred Lorinser. Beginning from 1977 the vehicle type W123, models 200 to 280 CE, were tuned and converted sporty. Two years later the ingenious Swabians also had a nobel-sporting collection ready for the T-models of the same model family.

In parallel to this the improvements to the big Daimler vehicles went on. The legendary SL and SLC cars received an even more athletic image by Lorinser. Also the M-class W163 did not remain unattended. The put up target to preserve the original character of this model range and to therewith give the vehicle a distinct sporty image became a full success.

According to the, as it were, secondary activity achieved success on the tuning line , it seemed likely to further expand this division. Consistently Manfred Lorinser founded Messrs. Sport-service Lorinser one 28th of December 1981, which first had its head office in Waiblingen, however later moved to Winnenden, a few kilometres away, together with a further Lorinser agency.

Sole manager of the new firm became Manfred Lorinser, who till today guides the fates of the company and constantly contributes new ideas and business fields. The good call of Lorinser generated a number of very famous customers. The four-time formula 1- world champion Alain Prost, formula 1- designer John Barnard, football pros of VFB Stuttgart and world famous tennis players in addition to other stars from sport and Showbiz took their ignition key for refined Mercedes models in receipt from Manfred Lorinser.
